Brenda Holzke, designer
for Studio B., combines her love of color and texture to
create fresh and unique designs. With a passion for anything
classically unusual, traditional looks are often updated
with a modern twist. Her strongest inspiration is drawn
from the vast world of fashion. The final results of this
are ceramic designs with combinations of pattern and color
that strongly resemble textiles.
As a self taught ceramic artist, Brenda is not bound
by limitations, and is always finding unique ways of interpreting
clay through experimentation. Having worked as an advertising
Art Director for many years, she understands the importance
of combining beautiful visuals with solid concepts. Functional
style is always a priority, so even the most decorative
items are always food safe.
This diversified collection can be displayed several
ways, allowing many pieces to easily be grouped together,
or showcase beautifully on their own.

Rae Dunn grew up in California
and now resides in San Francisco. She has a Bachelor of
Arts Degree in Industrial Design and worked in graphics
and fashion design for many years before discovering clay,
which has now been her passion for over 13 years. Rae currently
has a line of wares that is sold nationwide.
Her inspiration comes from the earth and she finds beauty
in simple shapes, natural forms and found objects. Her
utilitarian approach to designing ceramics is strongly
based on the Japanese aesthetic of wabisabi; the beauty
of things imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete. Her
work captures the simplicity and playfulness that are
the cornerstones of her own life. Built entirely by hand,
Rae’s work often elicits a physical response, asks to
be touched and provides a sense of reassurance that we
have our feet on the ground. You will find text incorporated
in her work, which lends a higher level of meaning and
point of view to her creations.
Rae designs her collection in her San Francisco studio
using white stoneware. All functional pieces are food
and dishwasher safe. In addition to serving your everyday
needs, Rae Dunn’s ceramics stand alone as works of art.

“ART WAS A CAPITAL
‘A’ WHEN I WAS GROWING UP,” SAYS CERAMIST
JILL ROSENWALD. Her mother was an art historian, a cousin
owns an art gallery, an uncle is an art dealer, and her
stepmother paints. Starting at a young, age, Jill spent
her days exploring the museums in her Upper East Side Manhattan
neighborhood- the Metropolitan, the Guggenheim, and the
Whitney – and trying her hand at batik and other crafts
during the summer camp. Combine all this with the study
of ceramics and a stint at making her own jewelry (which
she sold out of a box on the streets in SoHo), and you have
the makings of a potter and ceramics artist known internationally
of style, fashion, and color. Now, that’s creativity
with a capital C.
